ANGELIKA BENDER-WUEHRL (1952 - 2005) ABOUT HER PICTURES:

I invite the Viewer of my pictures to lose themselves in thoughts, to step inside them and to linger. I try to create spaces which make room for limitless fantasies
and dreams.

My intention is that the pictures are open to the ambiguities of the feelings and moods of the viewer. By blending different planes of reality, my concern is to empower the imagination and lead the way to other possibilities of perception.

Through the use of colour and my preferred central perspective, I try to communicate clarity and calm. Expanses of blue and gradual transitions represent the dissolution of boundaries.

In order to achieve the lightness and transparency of my pictures I use the following technique: the pigments are applied directly to the surface and not mixed with a binding agent as with oil, tempera or watercolour painting.

The special way in which the colours are reflected has the effect that the pictures change in atmosphere according to the angle and brightness of the light.
